From June 17 to 22, 2024, the SME North American Manufacturing Research Conference (NAMRC 52) was successfully held at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Simon Chan, a member of the LISMS research group, presented a paper titled “Developing a Hybrid-Built Pre-Hardened Alloy Steel for Injection Moulding Tools Using the Laser Powder Bed Fusion Process” at this conference.
The paper explores a hybrid additive-subtractive manufacturing technique as a cost-effective alternative for producing plastic injection moulding tools. This research showcases the significant potential of hybrid manufacturing technology in the field of injection moulding, providing new insights and methods for future manufacturing applications.
