LISMS alumni Dr Pai ZHENG has been honoured with the prestigious SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineers Award in the class of 2024, owing to his scientific contributions in the frontier of smart manufacturing and robotics systems field. Dr Zheng graduated from the University of Auckland in 2017, and he is currently an Associate Professor, Wong Tit Shing Young Scholar in Smart Robotics, and Director of PolyU-Rhein Köster Joint Laboratory on Smart Manufacturing, in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

(SME was founded in 1932 as a nonprofit organisation dedicated to the advancement of manufacturing. Since 1980, the SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award has recognised manufacturing engineers, age 35 or younger, who have made exceptional contributions and accomplishments in the manufacturing industry.)
