The Department of Mechanical & Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Auckland recently hosted a successful lab tour on Wednesday, 5th April 2023, providing an exclusive look into the cutting-edge research and projects conducted at their state-of-the-art facilities. This event is also sponsored by the Mechanical Engineering Group(MEG). The free event showcased four labs, offering valuable insights into how mechanical and mechatronic engineering can benefit various industries and businesses.
The tour commenced at the Drone Technology Research Group, where attendees witnessed the latest advancements in drone control and performance aimed at tackling real-world applications and challenges. Next, the New Dexterity lab showcased innovative robotics and bionics hardware designed to equip robots with dexterous manipulation capabilities and enable humans to regain or augment their performance.

Continuing the tour, the Acoustics Testing Service lab displayed its expertise in providing testing and acoustical engineering consultancy services to a diverse clientele. Lastly, the Laboratory for Industry 4.0 Smart Manufacturing Systems demonstrated their significant contribution to enhancing collaboration between university researchers, industries, and society by offering insights into Industry 4.0 and supporting local SMEs through their Digital Manufacturing Light approach.
